I have a Real Audio/Real Video file. Uploaded it but have a message the URL could not be found. I did follow the recommended instructions:
The video file name is: video 1_modem.rm
I also created the notepad file named: video 1_modem
In the text says: http://www.lucarvideo.com/video 1_modem.rm
I uploaded them individualy.
The hyperlink of the web site page is: '<A HREF="video 1_modem.rm">'
Do they have to be in a separated folder or something else?
Can I use windows media or quicktime files besides Real ones?
thanks

I also created the notepad file named: video 1_modem
Add the extension .ram to the end of your text file. don't call it .txt

then call the link in that text files as http://www. Not just the filename and that should fix it.

And when you call it from the website your calling the .ram file not the .rm file.

Still does not work
The text in the notepad is:
http://www.lucarvideo.com/video 1_modem.ram
The notepad file name is :
video 1_modem.ram
The hyperlink of the web site page is where people will clik is:
'<A HREF="video 1_modem.ram">'
These two files where uploaded to my server. Notepad file and video file (*.ram).
When uploading it shows the extention (*.rm) for the video file. This video file is for streaming video.
CaN I updload windows media or quicktime viodeo files also?

when you save the file in notepad you must type the name of the file as follows or it will not save the file correctly.

"filename.ram"

You must have the quotes around it when you enter it. This will force it to save it as a real media .ram file and not a text file. I have dozens of real media files uploaded on my site and they work fine.

Also this file should only have one line in it, which is the link to the .rm file.

ex. http://www.yoursite.com/filename.rm

I think you did this correctly.

Also, if you dont already have it, you can download a free copy of Helix Producer from the real.com site. This program will let you convert .wav files into .rm files.

I would also recommend renaming that file name for the .ram file. I think that may be part of your problem. Try using video1modem.ram instead. And as I said previously make sure you save it as "video1modem.ram" in notepad (including the quotes) or it wont work.

I would also make sure that you take spaces out of the filenames. I took a quick pass @ this last night and there is a space in the filename that was throwing it.

I was going to tinker with it to get you a working example. But Al explained it perfectly.

For some reason I cannot remane the text file with the extention "*.rm". It keeps saving as :
video1modem.ram.txt
When I try to type the quotes windows won't let me.
When the video file is loaded into FrontPage it shows as a .rm file
and not as .rm
That's why I changed it to .rm
This is the first time I am doing all this. Should the video file name extention be *.rm or *.ram ? Did I do anything wrong?
Is the hyperlink of the web site in Frontpage is OK?.
This is what I have (with all the quotes between the file name and the whole text:
'<A HREF="video 1_modem.ram">'
Thanks for your valuable help!

Correction:
The video file is loaded into FrontPage it shows as .rm file not .ram
That's why I use .rm . Is thos ok?
The hyperlink of the web site in Frontpage is (with all the quotes between the file name and the whole text)
'<A HREF="video1modem.ram">'
Thanks

When i've done this I"ve always put the full URL http:// in the .rm file i never used the virtual one.

What did you put in your .rm file. I think that's where your problem is.

Java uploader - Allows you to upload large video files ( up to 10GB ). This uploader supports a connection resuming feature, meaning that you won't start all over again if your internet connection drops! This uploader requires Java installed on your computer.

HTTP Uploader - For those who don't have Java installed on their computers, and wish to upload files up to 100MB, the HTTP Uploader is the answer.

Both uploaders allow you to specify the video file w and add additional tags so you can identify and easily filter your videos.

Thanks
