Q: Do I own my free domain?

A: Yes. You register it though our online interface. What you put in, is the information recorded. If we type it in for you, we use the information you give us.

Q: Do you have any hidden fees or charges?

A: No. All charges and fees are agreed upon up front.

Q: How long have you been in business?

A: We have been in business since 1997. We have been a member of the Online Better Business Bureau since 1999. Please feel free to check us out with the Better Business Bureau via their web site at BBB Online. We are listed with the Houston BBB under A Creative Touch, Humble, TX.

Q: Upgrade fees or penalties?

A: We do not charge to upgrade your account. Simply give us a call or drop us an email. The change will go into effect immediately, and the new charge will go into effect the next billing cycle.

Q: Is there a contract?

A: No. We do not require our customers to have contracts, because frankly, our customers who sign up don’t leave. We have a less than 1% attrition rate, and that is usually because their business has gone out of business. Our customers stay because they the like the service. We want customers to be 100% satisfied with the service, or we’re not doing our job.

Q: Do you provide refunds or cancellations?

A: Yes. For new Hosting accounts, we offer a 30-day money back guarantee. If you’re not satisfied, we will refund your money. To cancel an account, you just need to notify us 30 days prior to the cancelling date or end of service date by email to billing@actwd.com. Your cancellation will go into affect the next day. For accounts that pay in advance (quarterly, semi- or annually), we will refund any unused portion of your payment not within the 30 day notice.

Q: How long does it take to get setup?

A: Accounts with new domains are up and running within 24 hours. Accounts that require their domain to be transfer are set up with 24 hours, however the transferring of the domain topically can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. This can vary, based on the responsiveness from your current host or your reply to InterNic confirming the transfer. We will work with you to insure this is completed in the least amount of time.

Q: Are you planning on going out of business anytime soon?

A: That’s a big NO. We love the business, and working with our customers. We also have no intention of selling either. We have built this company from our first customer and those customers are not for sale to the highest bidder. We plan on being around for a very long time.

Q: How many customers do you have?

A: Well, without giving the whole farm away, we sign up about 200 new domains per month and have been in business for 4+ years. Over 60% of our new customers come as referrals from our existing customers.

Q: What kind of technical support do you offer?

A: We offer phone support as well as email: techsupport@actwd.com. We also have an extensive online HelpDesk where we have put detailed instructions on over 100 different topics and we continue to add to it daily.

Q: If my domain goes over the site limit, do you charge any penalties?

A: You will get a friendly email reminder, that will tell you your site is over limit. You will then have the option to remove some files, or to upgrade your account. You do not get a fee or penalty.

Q: Do I have 24 hour access to my site?

A: Once your domain is set up on our server, you have 24/7 access to your account.

Q: How do I get to my control panel?

A: Click here to access your control panel.

Q: How many times can I update my site?

A: Unlimited. You can update your site, as often as you like.

Q: Uptime: what does it really mean?

A: Here’s the long and the short of it. We have it based on 2 hours per month total. Honestly, any outages around here are less than 15 minutes every month or so. Generally for reboots.

Q: What do you mean when you said I get true email accounts, forwards and aliases?

A: This is one of our most popular questions. You can have an emailbox@actwd.com. You can choose or receive mail there or you can have it forwarded to another account. It is your choice. You also can have several mail boxes like sales@yourdomain.com, info@yourdomain.com and have them all delivered to your yourname@yourdomain.com. This is all very easily managed though your customer control panel.

Q: What software can I use to create my web site?

A: Well this is your choice. Popular programs include but aren’t limited to Word Press, Publisher, or Dreamweaver. In addition, we also offer a web-based tool which can easily help you make your site.

Q: What kind of discounts do I get if I pay quarterly or annually?

A: A little differently put, monthly accounts have a $2 charge on them. Reason is this, they actually take more time to process so instead of raising everyone’s price, we just charge the monthly folks $2 extra. Its a system that seems to work for everyone because we don’t charge huge hosting fees.

Q: I don’t have any credit cards or my business doesn’t let us charge payments, do you offer invoicing services?

A: We do offer invoicing, however we only offer it on Annual accounts.

Q: I want my domain to run fast. How many sites do you have on a server?

A: Our servers are blazing fast. We have 500 domains per server however, because each of our servers have four engines, we have a very fast set up. At any given time our servers don’t exceed 2% load on the machine.

Q: What kind of servers do we use? What kind of connection do you have?

A: We use Quad Processor Dell Servers, or four engines to run each server. We don’t over load the machines either. Plus we run an OC-196 network and Cisco Routers which probably doesn’t mean much to you, but it would be like putting several 1000 DSL or T-1 connections into the back of your computer. Now, if you use a dial up service to connect, you will be limited by that connection. However, you never have to worry about you site being slow because of us.

Q: What’s the catch? You’re too nice.

A: Honestly, no catch. With us, you get what you see. We just enjoy talking and help people and besides, we know what it’s like to be on the receiving side of not so nice hosting service. Our pledge is to never treat anyone in a way we wouldn’t want to be treated.
